Cashel town is a market town for a population of approximately 11,400 and an important tourist destination for over 250,000 visitors per year.
It is situated on the N8 National Primary and N74 Secondary Routes.Cashel town is a service centre for its own population and the surrounding rural hinterland. The town itself has a population of 2,936 in 1996; with a population of 2,687 and approximately 8,000 in the wider hinterland.
