Refuse collection and Recycling
What is a Kerbside Collection?
A Kerbside collection is a separate collection for clean and dry recyclable waste. This involves separating dry recyclables (see list) from ordinary household waste. Your dry recyclables are put into a clear recycling bag(these bags can be purchased from your local shop) and your ordinary refuse is put into your wheelie bin.
Why?
It is in the interest of everyone to recycle and reduce the amount going to landfill and Cashel Town Council is committed to recycling more waste. This collection will make it easier to recycle more and reduce the amount we send to landfills.
How?
The refuse truck will only collect the wheelie bin on the appropriate day/week. It is important to leave the recycling bags outside your gate/ on the footpath, before 8.00 am on the morning of the collection. DO NOT LEAVE THE BAG OUT OVER NIGHT
When will it be collected?
The collection will take place on a fortnightly basis. Dry Recyclables and Wheelie Bin refuse will be collected on alternate weeks. Use a compost bin or wormery to make compost from your garden and kitchen waste.
Charges:
Standing Charge €230
€0.26 per kg of Waste in your "Wheelie-bin"
€0.85 cent label per recycling bag
Recyclable bags may still be purchased from shops throughout the county
Important Points to Remember:
Recyclable material that is wet or has been contaminated with food waste cannot be recycled.
Items should be clean with the lids removed; these can also be included for recycling.
