Water Conservation

Water Banner
We recognise that too much of the water we pump, treat and distribute each year is lost by leakage. To improve this, a major Water Conservation Project is being undertaken, with the aim to reduce the current unacceptable high level of water loss. The project includes the metering of all non-domestic supplies.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR OWN HOME

GARDEN
Wash the car with buckets of water rather than a hose Keep water levels in pools low

BATHROOM
Take a short shower and a shallow bath Turn off water while lathering up
Check for leaks and drips
Always use the plug in the basin when washing hands or shaving.
Check overflow pipes to ensure water is not draining out, i.e ballcocks, cistern etc.
Do not run the tap while brushing teeth.
Remember: Everytime you flush your toilet uses approximately 10 litres of water.

KITCHEN
Use only full loads when washing clothes and using dish washer
Do not wash and rinse dishes under the tap, use the plug
Reuse cooled water after boiling eggs on your houseplants
